A photographer, filmmaker, and screenwriter, she is a graduate of Harvard in English Literature. She was highlighted by a coffee table book of photographs named Parsis: the Zoroastrians of India- A Photographic Journey. Her project of labor of love is based on over 20 years. It shares a detailed jump into the community of Parsis in India. 

The photographs from this collection have been shown in the gallery of Chemould Prescott Road, the National Gallery of Modern Art, and the Tate Modern London. 

Ketaki Sheth:




 

Another prodigy for our best female contemporary photographers in India is Ketaki Sheth. She is the acclaimed protege of Ragubhir Singh. She has brought in the picture of urban identity, visual rhythm, and spirit of the city.

Her city of life, Bombay, has been her motivation to capture the city life. The chaos of urban life and the concern of individuality are her main story plots. Her other visual documents contain a series of A Certain Grace: The Sidi: Indians of African Descent.

This series includes the photographic journey of the Sidi community and Sheth had spent five years living with them. She has received the Sanskriti Award and Higashikawa Award for being the best foreign photographer. 

 

Homai Vyarawalla:




One of the best female contemporary photographers and the very first female photojournalist in India. She is also known as the Dalda 13 as per her first license plate. She shot up her career at a time when women were prohibited from studying or working. 

She got through the social barriers and captured milestones like Jawaharlal Nehru giving his speech at Gandhi’s cremation. 

 

Dayanita Singh:
