Holidays are here! It is the most significant time of the year and so it is for your camera roll. While each year's holiday season is unique and has its own flavour, today we are bringing you a new recipe to add to your photography arsenal and make this season more memorable than ever. Today we are going over some tips to capture the joy of Christmas through your lens like never before!

Start with the idea:

It is indeed the busiest time of the year for you as a photographer because you can capture joy from all around, be it in the form of the exchange of gifts or capturing people singing a Christmas Carol.  We suggest you start with an idea for this year’s photography that is unique to your perspective and stands out to you.

Some ideas are:

  • Christmas through the lens of pets
  • Christmas for the people who are not at home for celebration etc.

While the common ideas are too common, you can brainstorm and come up with a theme for your Christmas photography centred around subjects that are neglected just like a few we mentioned above.

Family Photography is too cliche:

A family photo behind the Christmas tree with some gifts and ambient light is too cliche to be done in 2022 if you are able to convince your clients. Instead, you can ask your clients to go for neon-theme-based Christmas photos around the colour palette of celebrations to do something worth exploring and churning out never like before Christmas photos.

Ditch the light:

But light is the most important player in a photographer? Oh hell yeah it is, and for that, we would rather use sparkles and light derived from sources far from the object to capture movements and some action instead of a plain warm light photo that is altogether very happy and typical Christmas-like. Exploring the nightlife around the time of celebrations and capturing people in the streets could be your Christmas photography theme for this year instead of a plain and bland indoor shoot.

Christmas for pets(explained further):

Is Christmas meant for us humans only or can we extend the festivities to an integral part of our family, i.e. our pets? How about making pets the centre of the celebrations this year and trying to capture it from their POV? Documenting their journey throughout Christmas and exploring their joy aligning with ours is an idea we have not seen in many photographs done in a phenomenal way and this could very well be your Christmas treat for the year.

There you have it. Some unique, unorthodox and cool themes that you can play around with to make your Christmas Photography unique and memorable than to do the regular festivities and capture the regular activities that you have been capturing. We would be glad to have you post your unique theme and photographs of Christmas on our portal to see how much creative juices you have got flowing!
