Top 3 Tips To Choose The Right Photographer For Your Wedding

Go through the gallery of work

Do not make an idea about the skill of a photographer by going through his/her Instagram account only. Even the pieces of pictures he/she shows to you as samples are not enough. You need to see the entire wedding gallery to understand the consistency of quality in his/her work. It's really necessary for you to know whether a photographer is comfortable in handling different light situations, is creative enough with poses, or can perform equally well while experimenting with a variety of techniques? So, do not hesitate to ask your photographer for a real photograph of a full wedding day. Make sure you have a clear vision of what kind of photos you want so that you can compare that with the photos shown by the photographer.  For example, if you are an adventurous person and want your wedding photos to be full of fun and excitement, the photographer who is prone to click photos with a semi-formal tone may not be your choice. If you see only the well-edited Instagram feeds or the best images selected by the photographer himself/herself, your choice may get totally wrong.

 Know the photographer

Apart from scanning the work of a photographer, you need to assess whether you feel comfortable with him/her shooting you at the wedding too. Being comfortable with the photographer is very important because otherwise, you will look stiff in the photos. So you cannot make a decision by just going through the portfolio of the photographer. You should know the person as well. He/she should understand your dreams and be willing enough to turn that into reality with his/her skills. Not every wedding photographer is like that. Some very skilled, very talented photographers are also the most rigid ones. They are after perfection only, and often reject the ideas and suggestions of the clients that seem “not so good” to them. So be sure the wedding photographer you choose is flexible enough, and you form a good bond with him/her. So, it's not only the photographer's work but also his/her personality that you should judge before selecting the one who is most suited for your needs.

Meet different photographers

Never select a photographer without meeting at least 5 potential ones. You will get different perspectives when you meet different photographers, and gain the insight to choose the best one. As mentioned earlier, you should have a clear idea about what you want your wedding day to look like in the photos. But most people do not have such ideas. They gather inspiration from various sources and get all the more confused. If you're also stuck in such a situation, meeting with different photographers will help you out. It is because they will invariably ask you about your choices and preferences. And by explaining to them whatever dreams you cherish about 'The Special Day', it will be crystal clear to you what you want and what you don't.

And there's one additional tip for you - no matter how many photographers you shortlist to meet personally, make sure at least one of them is from a referral. When your close one has trust over a photographer, then he/she must possess some qualities. So, ask your keens the contact of photographers who covered their weddings. And most importantly, trust the photographer you choose. Your bond with the wedding photographer will reflect in the photos.
